FRENO Finds Fans & Other Adventures at ASLA Headquarters
By now, St Louis landscape architects are familiar with the story of how two local LAs conceived of and developed the world's first modular RainGarden. Soon their colleagues across the nation will know the story as well. Freno Systems, manufactured by Kirchner Block (Chapter Silver Sponsor), was first installed in downtown St Louis in fall 2010. The immense interest that it generated helped to bring the story to the pages of Landscape Architecture Magazine. The June 2011 issue features a two page editorial written by George Hazelrigg, ASLA St Louis Chapter.
Josi Nielsen, ExDir STL ASLA, was lucky enough to run into Bradford McKee, Editor of LAM at ASLA Headquarters and get a sneak peak of the pages the day they came out. Mr. McKee was impressed with the story of Freno and anticipates a favorable response from the landscape architecture community.
Congratulations to everyone who has helped bring Freno to life, especially Matt Snelling, ASLA and Jim Fetterman, FASLA.

ASLA Headquarter's Green Roof has some added publicity. Not only is it up for a Webby Award (Vote NOW). It also has a great store front experience to promote it. With a great location on Eye St in the District of Columbia, the massive window display prominently catches the attention of passersby.
