Finding Green in D.C.
How delightful to encounter a beautiful RainGarden in the heart of Washington D.C. while on our way to meet with Congress! This highly visible rainscape with signage directed at the thousands of daily passersby, is located on the grounds of the United States Botanic Garden.
The original incarnation was made possible by the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council.
There is not abundant information online about the current garden, but if you find yourself in the neighborhood it is worth a visit!
Right across the street is the beautiful and historic Bartholdi Park, which happens to be one of the Sustainable Sites Initiative's Pilot Projects. Our group spent some time there and filmed a quick video which will be available soon!
Upon exiting the Metro at Union Station in D.C., we were treated with a chance to inspect the extremely cool Union Station Bicycle Transit Center - View LOTS of great images/plans.
