Austin Tao & Associates is a Landscape Architecture, Planning and Urban Design firm located in Saint Louis, Missouri that is deeply committed to the improvement of urban and natural environments through excellence in design. We perform design work and planning for diverse projects such as streetscapes and plazas, highways, airports, parks and trail projects, University Campuses, municipal, residential, and commercial facilities. We have a particular emphasis on native landscape design.
Currently we have possible openings for three positions. Positions require a degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university. Wages and benefits will be discussed with each candidate in relation to the candidate�s qualifications.
Mid Level Designer:
with at least 4 - 5 years of experience in design, project and personnel management, to work in our Beijing, China office, for a period of time to be specified. Generally, this position would be in China but some travel may be required either within China or to the United States. This position requires knowledge of design and construction techniques, as well as the ability to manage a project, and produce all contract documents necessary to implement it. This position would also require some marketing and client relations as well as personnel management. Chinese language skills are not a pre-requisite, but would be an advantage.
Mid Level Designer:
with 3-5 years of experience to work in our Saint Louis office with experience in landscape architectural design and construction methods, including knowledge of plant materials and installation techniques. Skills and abilities required: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); Adobe Photoshop would also be an advantage. Candidate will need strong graphic skills and good verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas to co-workers and clients. The job requires the candidate to participate in project development at all stages, from initial site survey to construction administration in the field, on job sites.
Entry Level Designer:
with 1-3 years of experience to work in our Saint Louis office. This candidate can be a recent graduate from an accredited landscape architecture program. Preferably, this candidate would also be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite and graphics software such as Photoshop or Sketchup. The entry-level designer would assist staff landscape architects in site survey, preparation of design and bid documents, some graphics preparations as well as supporting project managers in the field, on job sites.

Applicants should have strong analytical, planning, design, CADD, communication, graphic and some project management skills. The candidate should have a Bachelor�s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Planning or a related field and four (4) years of urban design, planning or architectural work experience; relevant internship or other non-paid work experience accepted. A Masters Degree in Architecture or Urban Design is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A license to practice architecture preferred (Architectural Registration and/or NCARB certification (or actively pursuing registration).
Marketing & Graphic Design - Entry to Mid Level
Experience Required:
Position available for involvement in production work for both architectural and community planning projects. Office experience required. Software experience This position requires candidates to possess excellent social, oral, written communication skills.
