Chapter Elections: 2020 Executive Committee
As the 2019 calendar year comes to a close, we would like to thank the 2019 Executive Committee for all their work over the last year. The group ushered forward a number of new initiatives and events. The highlight of the year was the 2019 Central States Conference, held in April, which brought in over 140 conference attendees and 54 exhibitors

Congratulations to the 2020 Executive Committee. Their tenure will begin following the 2019 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture in November.

2019 ASLA /ASCE TOPGOLF Tournament
On September 5th, the St. Louis Chapters of the ASLA and ASCE held their first annual TOPGOLF Tournament + Funplay Event. Although the Annual Golf Tournament has been a long standing tradition for many years, this year we wanted to try something a little different and the result was fantastic. The event brought together over 70 Landscape Architects, Civil Engineers, and Vendors for a rousing night of competition and comradery. The end of the night saw our ASLA Members sweep the event. Congratulations to Stephen Ibendahl, Felipe DeNarvaez, and Cory Murner for taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

A very big Thank You to the ASCE St. Louis Section and all our sponsors for helping us make this event a huge success.

CLARB Annual Meeting in St. Louis
The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) will be holding its annual meeting in St. Louis September 26-28. Given the current deregulatory environment, attendees will spend the majority of time discussing how the licensure process can be streamlined to reduce friction and decrease time to licensure as well as increasing public understanding of landscape architecture and how regulation protects the public. Other topics on the agenda include board/governance best practices, the value of and planning for diversity and inclusion in regulation, and evolution of the L.A.R.E.

Attendees will also get a tour of our Gateway Arch National Park. About 130 Board Members and Board Executives from across CLARB’s membership, which includes the landscape architecture regulatory boards/agencies in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and District of Columbia, will be in attendance, and so, too, will senior leadership from CELA (Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture) and the national regulatory organizations for architects (NCARB), engineers and surveyors (NCEES), and interior designers (CIDQ).

Upcomming Events
All ASLA members and affiliates are welcome to participate in a collaborative PARK(ING) Day in the Central West End this year. Park(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where residents and businesses can transform an open parking spot into a temporary, creative space. Volunteer as an individual or as a group to help build a pop-up park that demonstrates how an ordinary parking space can become a space for community interaction.

Friday, September 20
8:00am - 7:00pm

In the Central West End - at the corner of Euclid & Maryland across from Drunken Fish & Gamlin Whiskey House.
