Policeman and Fireman's Memorial Park Tour

The St. Louis Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects announced it will host a tour of the Policemen and Fireman's Memorial Park on April 19th, at 41 South Central, Clayton, Missouri 63105. The event is free and open to the public from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The event will feature a tour by landscape architect Sue Wiest, ASLA, The HOK Planning Group, designers of the Memorial Park. According to Sue Wiest, ASLA, the guests participating in this unique opportunity will "learn about the role of landscape architects in the design of public spaces."
Lafayette Park Walking Tour

The St. Louis Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects announced it will host a walking tour of historic Lafayette Park on Saturday, April 20th. Those interested should meet at the St. Louis Police sub-station near the corner of Lafayette and Mississippi, in the southwest corner of the park. The event is free and open to the public beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The event will feature a tour by Mr. Ward Buckner, Chairman of the Lafayette Park Committee who will discuss the history of the park and provide information regarding the original park designer, Maximilian G. Kern. Food and beverages can be purchased at any of the neighborhood restaurants surrounding the park.
Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House and Education Center Tour

The St. Louis Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects announced it will host a tour of the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House and Education Center on Saturday, April 20th at Faust Park, 15185 Olive Boulevard, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017. The event is open to the public beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
The event will feature a tour by landscape architect Karen Lowe, ASLA, from Moynihan and Associates, designer of the Butterfly House gardens. According to Karen Lowe, ASLA, participants in this unique opportunity will "learn about the landscape design process from conceptual design through implementation and how to achieve a project that successfully fosters the life cycles of butterflies as well as accommodating the needs of the human visitors."
Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Walking Tour

The St. Louis Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects announced it will host a walking tour of historic Jefferson National Expansion Memorial grounds on Tuesday, April 23rd. Those interested should meet at the South leg of the Arch at 12 noon sharp. The approximately one hour event is free and open to the public.
The event will feature a tour by Mr. Bob Moore, historian for the National Park Service, and Mr. Jim Jacobs, Gardener's Supervisor who will discuss the history of the park, discuss the involvement of Landscape Architect Dan Kiley in the design of the Arch grounds and provide information regarding the maintenance required to keep the park looking great.
